First Notice Systems and Bridium Join Forces
for EDI Submission of Workers’ Compensation Claims to
States
Combination of first report of injury
intake services and electronic compliance reporting software
simplifies claim submission to states requiring reports via
EDI
BOSTON & ATLANTA — December
16, 2002 — First Notice Systems, the leader
in claim reporting solutions to the insurance industry, and
Bridium, a leading insurance technology company, announced
today the formation of a strategic alliance. This powerful
combination integrates first report of injury (FROI) services
with EDI state reporting tools for workers’ compensation
insurance carriers and claims administrators.
"Utilizing an integrated solution from First Notice
and Bridium has helped our claims organization become vastly
more efficient," said Marybeth Slane, Assistant Vice
President of Claims at AmCOMP. "It’s a natural
fit to combine EDI state reporting with first report of injury
intake services."
With a growing number of states mandating submission of workers’
compensation reports via EDI, insurance carriers, claims administrators
and corporate risk managers are looking for tools that help
them comply with complex, state-specific regulations and efficiently
interact with state reporting entities. Not only does each
EDI state have different reporting requirements, but also
these mandates are constantly changing. As a result, it’s
particularly time-consuming and costly for carriers and claims
administrators to build and maintain proprietary EDI links
to each state. Add the cost and complexity of operating a
FROI call center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and it’s
clear why workers’ compensation claims professionals
are turning to service providers that specialize in this area.
"Many of our clients have asked us to ease the headache
of EDI submissions to states," said Will Fulton, President
of First Notice Systems. "By teaming up with Bridium,
the injury information we receive from insureds is automatically
sent to compliance reporting tools that let clients easily
manage the state submission process."
The Joint Solution
Injuries reported via phone, fax or Internet are input directly
into ClaimCapture™, First Notice’s claim intake
and distribution engine. These claims are then transmitted
into one of Bridium’s compliance reporting products,
like EC-Web®, where carriers and claims administrators
can access, append or edit them before EDI submission to states.
Bridium’s connectivity tools also enable claims professionals
to manage subsequent report of injury (SROI) submissions.
All EDI transactions adhere to the national standard format,
ANSI X12. The integration between First Notice and Bridium
helps carriers and claims administrators reduce costs and
reporting cycles—from when an injury is first reported
to the time it’s accepted by a state reporting entity.
"We’re excited to add First Notice’s strength
in claim intake services to the front end of our product suite,"
said Steve Isaac, President and CEO of Bridium. "Together
we offer a more comprehensive injury reporting solution that
seamlessly integrates with our clients’ core business."
The combined solution between Bridium and First Notice is
available for immediate implementation.
